Connection Editor's database dropdown may be empty depending upon DB permissions

description

The connection editor is used to define connections to data sources. When the database type is SQL Server and you do not have sufficient privileges on the database you are attempting to connect to, the dropdown list for the database name will be empty.

Temporary Workaround: You can still create and use the connection even without a database selected; you just have to specify the database explicitly in your queries.

The database dropdown list is populated with a query to the target database. For SQL Server this is a call to the sp_databases stored procedure that requires particular permissions. Will change this to a query that is not permission dependent, such as "SELECT name FROM master..sysdatabases".
